Jessica Abrams is the Director of Community Supports at Compass, where she leads a newly established department focused on Supported Living, PersonalSupports, Shared Living, and Remote Services. With a Bachelor of Social Work from Morgan State University, Jessica has always been a passionate advocate for others and is committed to ensuring that individuals supported by Compass achieve their personal goals and gain independence in various aspects of their lives.

Jessica’s dedication to advocacy started early in her life and has shaped her career path. Even during her grade school years, she displayed a strong commitment to helping others. Apart from her responsibilities at Compass, Jessica actively volunteers with her local police department and her city’s soup kitchen. She also generously dedicates her time alongside the individuals supported by Compass at the Life House Church’s Food Pantry. This initiative, which emerged during the challenging times of the pandemic, demonstrates Jessica’s unwavering dedication to serving her community and making a positive impact.

As Director of Quality Advancement, Jeff Althoff collaborates with program leaders to drive Compass’ vision for advancement of progressive supports as well as ensuring that Compass’ standards of care comply with DDA guidelines, COMAR regulations, federal, state, and local laws. Jeff’s passion for helping people with I/DD is rooted by his personal experience of fostering three siblings with I/DD, and Compass’ person–centered approach around facilitating an individual’s progress. Jeff emphasizes the importance of respecting the individual’s choices in their journey toward success, as opposed to imposing a rigid, directive plan. Jeff received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Baltimore, where he also served as a Graduate Assistant for two years, completing 36 credit hours toward a Master of Public Administration

Sue Cooper joined Compass, Inc. in 2016, taking on the role of Director of Finance. Sue maintains the organization’s financial health and sustainability while upholding its mission to serve and support individuals with I/DD. She is responsible for overseeing financial activities, budgeting, and financial planning, ensuring efficient resource allocation for programs, and presenting financial reports to stakeholders. Sue holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Johns Hopkins University.

Kristina Jones started her career at The Arc of the Central Chesapeake, where she fell in love with the work that we do. In the 12 years that she has been in the DD/ID field, Kristina has filled many different roles, starting as a Direct Support Professional, then a Transitional Specialist, Director of Personal Supports and finally, Director of Properties. She worked as the Director of Properties for four years with The Arc before working with Compass in 2018. She has held a license in Real Estate for many years, she’s a certified Support Broker and certified in MentalHealth First Aid and Discovery.

Jenoyce Lester has been a dedicated member of the Compass, Inc. team since 2004, where she serves as the Director of Health Services and Delegating Nurse/Case Manager. In her role, Jenoyce oversees a team of nurses who educate Direct Support Professionals in home settings, ensuring the delivery of safe and high–quality healthcare people supported under their care. Furthermore, she plays a crucial role in implementing Compass, Inc.’s strategic planning, policies, and procedures. Jenoyce’s commitment extends beyond her professional responsibilities as she forges connections within the community. While having served Compass for many years, she says, “There are relationships formed–I know their history, challenges, accomplishments, and dreams. It’s very rewarding to witness their progress over the years, and it has kept me closely connected to this community.” Jenoyce holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wilmington University.

Aina Horton serves as the Director of Community Living, leading the residential services department. She oversees 30 single–family homes, townhomes, and apartments distributed across Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and Howard County. Aina’s primary focus is to ensure that people supported by Compass are making progress towards their personal goals, as they strive for greater independence in both their residential environments and daily activities.

In 2011, Aina began her journey with Compass, Inc. as a Residential Counselor, quickly advancing to the positions of Program Coordinator and later, ProgramAdministrator, reflecting her dedication and contributions to the organization. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from California State University San Bernardino and a master’s in social work from the University of Maryland.

Deva Ludwig leads a team to implement the agency’s development plan to advance the mission and values of Compass, Inc. Her role involves fostering growth for Compass through donor engagement, building community partnerships, and securing support from foundations and grants. Deva studied Hearing and SpeechScience at the University of Maryland, where she cultivated a passion for supporting people with developmental disabilities through her work at the Child Development Clinic. Her career at Compass started in 2015 when she took on the role of Behavior Support Coordinator, then promoted by her performance to Behavior Support Director–she later became the Quality Advancement Director. Her continued growth and dedication to creating a positive impact have led her to the current position as Director of Communications and Development

Amina Malik oversees the process by which people are directing their life choices utilizing principles of the Personal Outcomes Measures throughout all stages of the Person–Centered Planning process ultimately ensuring that implementation and documentation adhere to regulations and quality standards. With almost a decade of service for Compass, Amina has made close connections to the people she supports. Amina especially holds high regard for the people she supervises. She says, “Without them, the people we support would not be able to live independently. They roll up their sleeves and they care. This is what humanity is about.”

Amina has been with Compass since 2013 and is Council on Quality and Leadership,(CQL) Certified Personal Outcome Measure (POM) Trainer and Interviewer. She is a Charting Lifeforce Ambassador, Certified Non–ProfitAccounting Professional and went through the Montgomery College Non–ProfitLeadership Bootcamp. Amina has a Bachelor’s in Sociology and Spanish language literature from The University of Maryland College Park. She also has a law degree from The University of the District of Columbia.
