Community Development Services

Community Development Services

Compass’ Community Development Services (CDS) provide access to personalized, community-based activities designed to foster growth, independence, and meaningful connections. We believe that inclusion is just the starting point—true fulfillment comes from fostering a genuine sense of belonging. Community Engagement paves the way to a deeper connection with others and the communities around us. CDS uses person-driven strategies to identify what people want to spend their time doing and helps them explore their communities to find opportunities that match those interests. Creating a sense of belonging, fostering personal growth, encouraging independence, and providing sustainable enrichment are the core principles of these services.

About Our Program

This program helps people create individualized schedules of community-based activities. Activities may include joining local clubs, participating in leisure and volunteer opportunities, connecting with disabled and nondisabled peers, learning travel skills, and accessing hobbies and community spaces.

Examples of activities include:

  • Art Classes
  • Food Pantry Volunteering
  • Participation in activities at local recreation centers
  • Individualized activities based on interest
  • Ensuring access to current hobbies and activities

Compass ensures that all services are coordinated to avoid duplication for those receiving a combination of work, CDS, and other support services.
