Family Support Services

Family Support Services

Compass believes in and embraces self-determination and the importance of family. We recognize that early intervention in the family’s home and equipping families with knowledge, resources, and support can have a lifelong impact on the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

Family Support Services provides an array of services to help ensure that families are equipped and supported in advocating and assisting their loved ones with disabilities. These supports, which can be provided in tandem with other programs can include Family Caregiver Training and Empowerment, Family and Peer Mentoring, and Individual Education, Training, and Advocacy Supports.

Personal Support

Personal Supports services empower people living in their own or family homes by helping them build the skills they need for greater independence and success in daily life.

Family Caregiver Training and Empowerment

Compass offers Family Caregiver Training and Empowerment Services to strengthen family unity and enhance well-being. Tailored to the needs outlined in a Person-Centered Plan, these services include educational materials, workshops, and transportation to training events. Topics such as understanding disabilities, parenting strategies, advocacy, and self-advocacy help caregivers gain the skills and confidence needed to provide effective support.

Family and Peer Mentoring Supports

This service provides mentorship to individuals and families with disabilities, focusing on self-directed decision-making and access to community resources.

Individual Education, Training & Advocacy Supports

Compass empowers individuals with disabilities to lead self-directed lives through workshops, conferences, and assistive technology (AT) services. Participants build self-advocacy skills, access environmental modifications, and develop mobility training to enhance independence and participation in community life.
